Sunstone Vineyards & Winery

Sunstone Vineyards and Winery is located 30 minutes north of Santa Barbara and is one of the most beautiful wineries and tasting rooms in the Santa Ynez Valley. Sunstone's tasting room is reminiscent of some of the small wineries in the Provencal French countryside, featuring a kitchen complete with a wood-burning oven and two stone barrel-aging caves built into the hillside. The Rice Family farms their 77-acre vineyards in an organic, bio-sustainable manner, meeting all California Certified Organic Farmer standards.
Sunstone Winery is a private, unique, and exclusive location for a wedding. As a small family owned and operated winery we book only a handful of weddings each year.

Sunstone Winery is a site-only operation for weddings. This means you need to provide from outside all food, chairs, china, flatware, décor, etc. One of our approved coordinators will assist you with the coordination of these details.
Most couples exchange vows in our lovely courtyard. Our charming tasting room is popular for the receiving/ reception. You then enter our romantic Cuvee Cave through the barrel-aging hallway. Perfect for dining, the Cuvee Cave features a built-in, wood burning fireplace and nine, two-tiered chandeliers that bathe the atmosphere in an amber glow. The Cuvee Cave seats 72 comfortably in its interior. A canopy or market umbrellas can be used to extend tables into the exterior areas to accommodate up to 120 guests. Due to weather conditions during certain months, we require the canopy installation off the end of the cave.

Number of Guests
Sunstone Winery’s maximum number of guests is 120.

Day and Times
Guest arrival for a wedding is no earlier than 5:30 p.m., and events can be held any day of the week.Set-up can begin after noon, or as determined in advance by management. We reserve most major holidays for winery use and do not schedule weddings or private events. All events must conclude by 10:30 p.m., and the facility must be vacated by 11 p.m. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Alcohol Consumption
Sunstone Wines are served exclusively. Billing is based on consumption and a 20% discount is given on the purchase of wine listed on the current tasting room wine list, subject to some restrictions. Sparkling wines and bottled beer are allowed only when provided by caterer and served in the appropriate glass. No hard liquor is allowed.

Additional Requirements
Sunstone Winery requires the use of a pre-approved caterer. A full commercial kitchen is available for the caterer. The use of our kitchen facility is included in the location fee.
Sunstone requires shuttle transportation. All guests are to arrive and depart the property via shuttle transportation.
Sunstone requires children under the age of 12 years old be supervised by a licensed and bonded childcare service.
Sunstone requires liability insurance in the amount of one million dollars.

Required Wedding Coordinator
For wedding ceremony and receptions held on property, Sunstone Winery requires the use of an approved wedding coordinator. We work with coordinators and vendors familiar with the property to ensure the highest quality event in both planning and production. Coordinator services are not included in the location fee, but are required for weddings held on property.

*Coordinators are required for weddings but not for rehearsal dinners or other types of private events held on property.

Fees, Booking and Payment
Sunstone Winery has an exclusive use property lease agreement. This means no matter which type of event you hold at Sunstone, yours will be the only event on property. This ensures you will have an intimate and exclusive venue. A signed contract and a 50% deposit are required to reserve a specific event date. The final payment is due 60 days prior to the event. Both are non-refundable.

Wedding Ceremony and Reception

Rehearsal Dinners, Private, and Corporate Events
Sunstone Winery also hosts events such as Rehearsal Dinners, Birthday and Anniversary parties, and Corporate dinners. Please refer to the Sunstone Private Events section of this website for the booking details as they differ from the Wedding requirements.
